Details SF 918 creates the Iowa power fund to accelerate research and development, knowledge transfer, technology innovation, and improve the economic competitiveness of Iowa in all energy fields. An office of energy independence is created with a direct charged with leading outreach and public education efforts concerning renewable energy, renewable fuels, and energy efficiency. An 18-member board is created to oversee the distribution of funds to projects meeting specific criteria. Initial investment in the fund for FY 2008 is $25 million.
