Dear Iowa Business Leader:
Candidates for the Iowa Legislature are filing their nomination papers to run for office. Looking forward at the next election is a critical time for ABI and our advocacy efforts on your behalf.
Every election year brings new candidates from across the political spectrum. But the new legislative districts in 2012 present new opportunities for candidates to run in open districts or challenge incumbents.
New districts also mean that some legislators will decide it’s time to retire and not seek re-election. Some of those have been real champions for ABI and the business community.
Some of the retirees include:
Representative Lance Horbach (Tama) – as chair of the House Labor Committee, lead the fight to preserve Iowa’s Right to Work law and has floor managed countless workers compensation bills on behalf of employers.
Representative Scott Raecker (Urbandale) – as leader of the House Appropriations Committee, no one had done more to protect taxpayers from run-away spending, demanding that Iowa’s budget be balanced.
Who will replace these and other Friends of Iowa Business? ABI is just one of the many groups who will want to have a strong voice in determining who is elected on November 6, 2012.
We’re asking everyone associated with ABI to invest in the Iowa Industry Political Action Committee so business may continue to have a strong and unified voice.
Your investment in ABI’s 2012 business climate campaign will make a difference!
Sincerely,
Kirk J. Tyler Frederick V. Buie
