| Will reform collective bargaining for government employment to bring wages and benefits more in line with those of the taxpayers in the private sector. Iowa’s current system for government employment through collective bargaining with government unions has created a system where the taxpayers have little or no say in the process. Taxpayers are simply forced to pay for whatever wages and benefits that the unions, government officials and unelected arbiters decide. HF 525 would require government employees contribute at least $100 per month to their health insurance premiums, require arbitrators to compare local salaries and benefits in the private sector and no longer consider the government's ability to levy taxes to pay for increases. |
