Both bills were noncontroversial Department of Natural Resources (DNR) sponsored clean-up bills until environmentalist groups incerted an amendment to require the DNR to develop a product stewardship report. Without legislative direction, this type of legislation can create a mandated system for manufacturers and their products, ultimately costing consumers.
