SF 2024 originally passed by the Senate on a 26-22 vote, provided $12 million per year for community colleges for workforce skill training; and an additional $2 million per year for gap tuition assistance. Ultimately, these resources were included and passed in Education and Regents budget bill SF 2321. Additionally, specific directives focused on career preparedness in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math training were included in the bill as well, increasing funding to $4.7 million for STEM, well above $2 million per year funding in the past.
