Career and Technical Education moves forward

February 18, 2016

The House Education Committee on Thursday passed HSB 620, which modernizes the state’s career and technical education (CTE) programs. The legislation is the recommendation of the legislatively appointed CTE task force which met for almost two years discussing ways to provide quality CTE programs and collaborate with all interested stakeholders in order to address the skills gap and ensure high school students are work ready if they choose not to attend a four year university. Workforce readiness is an ABI legislative priority and ABI supports this legislation. There are some definitional changes expected in the bill as it relates to the career clusters.
