Caucus Results and What Lies Ahead

Former President Donald Trump won the 2024 Iowa GOP Caucus in convincing fashion on Tuesday night. Trump won 51% of the vote (56,260 votes) out of just over 110,000 ballots cast. He also won 98 out of 99 counties. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis finished second with 21.2% of the vote while former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley earned 19.1%.
The eyes of the political world now turn to New Hampshire as they’ll conduct their first-in-the-nation primary on Tuesday, January 23. Polling is much closer between Trump and Haley in the Granite State as independents and democrats are permitted to vote in the GOP primary, which should benefit Haley’s performance.
