Legislative leadership appoints interim committees

Each year, legislative leaders in both parties work together to appoint committees to address issues during the interim. Some of the committees are required by state law and others are established to look into key issues that may be addressed by the Legislature in the next session.

This year, four statutory committees and four committees focused on key issues have been established. Several may be of interest to ABI members, including the Fiscal Committee, Tax Expenditure Committee, Violence in Iowa Study (this specifically references businesses), Prescription Pain Medications Committee and Industrial Hemp Study Committee. Most of the committees will meet after the November election.
