Mike Naig Named Iowa Secretary of Agriculture

Gov. Kim Reynolds has named Mike Naig as Secretary of Agriculture. The promotion to lead the Department of Agriculture comes as Secretary Bill Northey recently resigned his post following his confirmation by the U.S. Senate to serve as Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agriculture Service at the USDA. Naig had served as Northey’s Deputy since September 2013. Naig has announced his intentions to run for a full term this fall and will face multiple challengers in the June primary.
