ABI releases 2013-14 legislative voting records

The Iowa Association of Business and Industry on Wednesday released its voting records for the 2013-14 85th General Assembly.

The records, which are based on economic and business issues, are valuable tools for Iowans as they prepare for the Nov. 4 election.

Fifty-one state representatives and 15 senators compiled a 100 percent ABI voting record.

“We want to thank these legislators who regularly vote for policies that promote job growth,” ABI President Mike Ralston said. “It is important during this election year that we continue to advocate for candidates who remember that it is all about jobs.”

ABI scores lawmakers on how they vote on key bills and amendments affecting Iowa’s business climate. Key votes are based on ABI’s 2013-14 legislative priorities and policies established by the association’s 1,400 members.

Highlights from the voting records include legislators’ stances on substantive property tax reform measures, a restoration of the tax credit cap, military employment and protecting employers from increased legal fees.

The full voting records for all Iowa House and Senate members, including those from past years, are available by visiting the newly-redesigned Iowa Prosperity Project website.

The Iowa Prosperity Project is a non-partisan effort to share information about critical election issues and candidates to help voters make informed decisions about their future.
