ABI Joins Letter Encouraging Voluntary Labeling

July 23, 2015

ABI joined hundreds of other state and federal associations and called on Congress to move forward with a voluntary labeling program for products that contain genetically modified organisms. Some states are proposing legislation, and others have already enacted legislation, all with different guidelines making it difficult for companies to comply and increasing the cost of doing business. ABI supports a unified, voluntary approach to labeling on the federal level which is why the organization signed on in support of HR 1599-the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act. If you would like a copy of the letter please contact ABI. Congress is expected to consider the legislation today. You can find more information on the status of the bill here.
