The EPA recently proposed no increase in the 2019 Biomass-Based Diesel volume and reduced the 2018 Advanced Biofuel volume by 40 million gallons under the federal Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS). The biomass-based diesel industry is at a critical time and the recent EPA Renewable Volume Obligation (RVO) was a new blow to growth.

Last week, ABI staff and members of the ABI Environment Committee attended a stakeholder meeting hosted by Air Quality Bureau to talk about the budget for next year. The department is facing a budget shortfall in the Title V program due to reduction in air emissions.

The Iowa Insurance Division on Sept. 9, approved the 2017 Workers’ Compensation average rate decrease of 4.7 percent from 2016 rates, initially filed in August by National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI). The new lower rate takes effect January 1, 2017.
