Applications due Monday for workforce rental housing assistance

October 29, 2015

Last week, Gov. Terry Branstad, Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds and Iowa Finance Authority Executive Director Dave Jamison announced a new Workforce Housing Loan Program available to communities in need of more rental housing due to local employment growth. The program has $5 million available to provide financial assistance in the form of low-cost repayable loans to cities and counties. With low unemployment rates and new construction, Iowa needs more housing options for workers moving to areas with jobs available. The loan program is competitive and available to all cities. Applications in the initial Workforce Housing Loan Program funding round are due to the Iowa Finance Authority by Monday, Nov. 2.
