Dalluge attends Clean Power Plan meeting

September 10, 2015

On Wednesday, around 75 stakeholders met to begin discussions on Iowa’s approach to the Clean Power Plan. During the meeting, both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) gave an overview of changes from the original proposal. A panel of stakeholders discussed questions related to their thoughts of the plan as a whole and Iowa’s specific plan. Overall, the cross section of stakeholders, which included utilities and environmental groups, agreed a reasonable approach is necessary to address carbon emissions. However there are many outstanding questions and concerns related to the final rule. More stakeholder meetings will be scheduled in the coming months to further discuss recommendations for Iowa’s plan. More information and handouts from the meeting are available from the DNR here.
