Federal Spotlight: ABI Signs on to Letter Supporting the Reauthorization of the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill

March 10, 2022

ABI also signed a letter spearheaded by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) that urges Congress to add the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill in the final product that joins the United States Innovation and Competition Act with the America COMPETES Act. This is a significant proposal in light of the ongoing supply chain shortages many of ABI members continue to face.

With manufacturers playing a significant role in the economic health of Iowa, the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill is important because it temporarily removes or reduces tariffs on goods made internationally or are facing a shortage in the United States. NAM’s experts estimate this inclusion would eliminate more than $1.5 billion in import tariffs over the 2021-23 period.
