Federal Spotlight: Biden Chooses Labor, Commerce and SBA Nominees

January 14, 2021

President-elect Joe Biden continues to roll out his nominees for cabinet-level and senior-level government posts. Last week, he announced Boston Mayor Marty Walsh will serve as labor secretary, Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo will be commerce secretary and former Obama administration official Isabel Guzman will lead the U.S. Small Business Administration. The announcements come as Mr. Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will take the oath of office on Jan. 20. The Senate must confirm cabinet-level positions, which will be much easier following the results of the Georgia Senate races last week, as Democrats have now taken control of the upper chamber. You can read in-depth profiles of those three nominees via The New York Times.
