First Future Ready Iowa Alliance meeting brings together leaders

November 3, 2016

The initial meeting of the Future Ready Iowa Alliance took place in Des Moines on Friday. Many ABI members have an active role as part of the workgroup. ABI President Mike Ralston and Nicole Crain, senior vice president, public policy, attended the meeting to hear from state education and business leaders about current efforts to align business and education together to prepare the future workforce.

An 18-member Future Ready Iowa Alliance Executive Committee will provide guidance to the co-chairs. Working groups will be established to advance key analysis and recommendations. The goal of Future Ready Iowa is to have 70 percent of Iowa’s workforce have education or training beyond high school by the year 2025, as outlined in this fact sheet. The next meeting of the alliance will take place on Jan. 3, 2017 at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden in Des Moines. The full membership can be found here.
