Governor appoints education director

On Tuesday, Branstad appointed Ryan Wise as the Director of the Department of Education. Wise previously served as the deputy director of the policy and communications division of the department, a position he held since September 2013. He succeeds Brad Buck, who is leaving for the position of superintendent of Cedar Rapids schools. Wise holds degrees from Creighton University, the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and Harvard University, and has worked as a history teacher and for the Teach for America organization.
