Lyon Confirmed as DNR Director

February 27, 2020

Kayla Lyon, director of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, was confirmed to that position by the Iowa Senate on Tuesday afternoon. The vote was overwhelmingly bipartisan at 43-7. Lyon was first appointed to the position by Gov. Reynolds last June. She is the first female director of the DNR. She previously served as Gov. Reynolds' legislative liaison during the 2019 session. Before that, she served as the governor’s agricultural and natural resources advisor. Prior to that she worked in government affairs for the Iowa Institute of Cooperatives.
