National Voter Registration Month

September 5, 2019

Secretary of State Paul Pate sent a release earlier this week to encourage all eligible Iowans to participate in National Voter Registration Month. The National Association of Secretaries of State established September as voter registration month in 2002. If you have already registered to vote, ensure your registration is up to date. According to the release, “Approximately 90% of eligible Iowans are registered to vote, and there are more than two million active registered voters in the state.” If you aren’t sure if you have registered to vote or want to update your information go to VoterReadyIowa.org.

In addition to the efforts of Secretary Pate, ABI is a partner of Employee Voter Registration Week (EVRW). Employers and associations around the country are hosting events and sharing information with employees about the importance of being registered to vote. If you haven’t yet signed up to be an EVRW partner, there’s still time to do so. Go to EmployeesVote.com to learn more about how you can be a part of increasing voter participation!
