Robinson Seeks Democratic Nomination in Senate District 49

July 5, 2018

Patti Robinson of Clinton announced on Tuesday that she is pursuing the Democratic nomination for Senate District 49. She is running for the nomination following Fred Hubbell’s selection of Sen. Rita Hart (D-Wheatland) to serve as his Lieutenant Governor on the Democratic gubernatorial ticket. The district is composed of all of Clinton County and parts of northern Scott County. Democrats will hold a special nominating convention next week, and Robinson is currently the only Democrat who has declared. She will face Republican Chris Cournoyer of Le Claire, who is president of the Pleasant Valley School District. This is expected to be a hotly contested race, as this is seen as a toss-up district.
