Senate District 41 Candidates Selected; Election in Less Than Two Weeks
January 14, 2021
Both Republicans and Democrats have nominated their respective candidates to fill the seat left vacant by former State Sen. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Ottumwa) after she was provisionally seated in Congress last week. Republicans selected Adrian Dickey, who works in a family trucking company named Dickey Transport. Democrats chose Mary Stewart, a retired Indian Hills Community College educator, as their nominee. Stewart was also the Democratic nominee in 2018, where she ran and lost a close race to Miller-Meeks. Voters in Senate District 41 will choose their next state senator on Tuesday, Jan. 26. Regardless of who wins, it will not affect the balance of power in the Iowa Senate.
