Senate passes health care mandate expansion
February 25, 2016
The Iowa Senate on Thursday passed SF 2254, which expands the existing autism mandate. The bill would require behavioral assessments to be covered under health insurance. Current Iowa code requires coverage for medically-necessary services.
The new expansion would only apply to companies with 50 or more employees. The bill, like all mandates, does not apply to companies who are self-insured or governed by ERISA. ABI will continue to oppose this bill as it moves to the Iowa House.
