Special Election Set For Senate District 30

February 21, 2019

Following the resignation of State Senator Jeff Danielson (D-Cedar Falls) last week, Gov. Reynolds has set the special election to fill his vacant Senate seat for Tuesday, March 19. Danielson, a four-term senator and fireman, announced he is taking a new job that will be disclosed at a later time. Both parties will hold nominating conventions in the immediate future to select nominees who will then face each other in the election next month. The winner of the election will serve the rest of Danielson’s term and will be up for re-election in November 2020. The district is considered to be a toss-up, and depending on the candidates nominated by each party, could shape up to be a very competitive race. As a reminder, Iowa’s voter identification law that passed in 2017 is now in effect, and you are required to bring identification to the polls. Get more information about the Iowa Voter ID Law.
